What is Breast Lift?

Lowering the skin and subcutaneous fat layer of the breasts is called mastoptosis. And many women face this problem as they get older. It will not be possible to restore breast elasticity by yourself, even if you regularly go to the gym and get a proper diet. Since the fat layer is located in the breasts, it cannot be turned into muscles. And the skin cannot return to its previous position after sagging.

With the breast lift, plastic surgeons restore the elasticity of the breasts. This procedure should not be confused with breast augmentation surgery using implants or reduction mammoplasty, in which the size of the breasts is reduced. In the case of mastopexy, excision of excess sagging and stretched skin occurs and subsequent fixation of tissues in the correct position. At the request of the patient, an increase or decrease in the breast can be made during the lifting procedure.

This type of surgical intervention has been known since the beginning of the 20th century. The methods of the breast lift procedure were improved only by the end of the 1960s, and doctors began to successfully restore the shape of the breasts.

Currently, thanks to modern equipment, experienced specialists easily perform operations to tighten the stretched skin on the breast. The VIP Surgery Turkey clinic employs experienced plastic surgeons who will be able to gently restore the youth of this female organ, preserving its natural appearance and giving the breast a harmonious shape.

Breast Lift
Methods

There are several methods of mastopexy in plastic surgery. For each patient, the doctor determines the appropriate method based on indications and preliminary examinations. Each of them differs in the degree of complexity and level of injury.

The most popular ways to lift the skin of the breasts:

• Periareolar mastopexy is used for minor deformation of breast tissue. Suitable for patients with the first or second breast size. The method is considered the most gentle, and recovery during the rehabilitation period occurs quickly;
• The vertical method is prescribed for the second degree of ptosis, and usually these are women with the second or third breast size;
• The third method, which is considered the most difficult, is called anchor mastopexy. But although the method is considered more traumatic, with its help it is possible to restore the elasticity of even the most neglected large breasts.

Indications

for Breast Lift

Sagging breasts can occur for various reasons: pregnancy and prolonged breastfeeding, large breast size, age-related changes, sudden weight loss, refusal to wear a bra or genetic predisposition.

Regardless of the cause of mastoptosis, there are indications for breast lift surgery:

• Sagging and stretching of the breast skin, regardless of the degree of ptosis;
• Deformation of the breasts, as well as loss of elasticity;
• Visible asymmetry: different shape and size of the breasts;
• Lowering of the areola and nipples;
• The appearance of stretch marks.

Stages of Surgery

First Day

We will meet you at the airport in Turkey and take you to the hotel. A visit to the doctor is not scheduled on this day, so clients can have a rest after the road.

Second Day

A plastic surgeon and an anesthesiologist consult the patient. Usually, an operation is scheduled on this day. The duration of mastopexy depends on the method of surgery and the degree of mastoptosis. After the operation is complete, the client gets sent to a hospital room, and the medical staff monitors her condition. If severe pain occurs, painkillers and antibiotics are prescribed.

Third Day

The patient is given time to rest after surgery. If necessary, a doctor visits her, makes the first examination. If a simple operation was performed, on this day the patient can leave the hospital.

Fourth Day

The doctor decides on leaving the patient the hospital after complex methods of mastopexy. In the absence of complications, which are minimized in our clinic, the woman is leaving the hospital with further outpatient treatment.

If the doctor and the patient have come to the conclusion that there is a need to stay in the clinic for some more time, the following days are examined daily by a specialist. And the patient stays under monitoring her health until the condition improves.

Description of the Procedure

1

Preparation for

Breast Lift

The patient must prepare beforehand For the breast lift operation and subsequent recovery to be faster and easier. Before the operation, you need to pass certain tests. Everything is determined individually, but here is the most common list of tests and procedures.

• General and biochemical blood test;
• General urine test;
• Tests for HIV, hepatitis B and C;
• Blood clotting test;
• Ultrasound of the breast;
• Fluorography;
• Blood type and Rh factor.

A month before the procedure, you should stop taking certain medications, including vitamins and blood thinners, as well as hormonal and anti-inflammatory drugs. Smoking and alcohol are banned. It is necessary to follow a diet 3 days before the operation, excluding heavy food. And in 12 hours it is necessary to completely abandon food.

Performing Breast Lift

The mastopexy technique is chosen based on the degree of mastoptosis.

• With the periareolar technique, a small incision is made around the areola. The stretched skin is excised and the nipple is raised, and then the incision is stitched up. In this case, local anesthesia is possible. The procedure lasts 30-40 minutes. With this method, the breast is not damaged. Therefore, rehabilitation is easy and fast;
• The vertical technique involves an incision around and through the areola. This method is carried out only with the help of medical sleep and lasts from 1 to 2 hours. During the procedure, excess tissue is removed next to the submammary fold. Thanks to vertical mastopexy, the correct and even shape of the breast is formed, as well as the return of the nipples to the desired position;
• Anchor breast lift lasts about 2 hours and is performed under general anesthesia. The operation is complicated, but very effective. The incision is made along the perimeter of the areola, then there is penetration inside to the submammary fold with the continuation of the incision along it. Also, excess tissue is removed, the shape of the breasts is corrected and the nipples rise.

In addition to restoring the elasticity of the breast and its beautiful shape, mastopexy helps you to reduce the size of the areola.

  • HOW MANY DAYS DO I NEED TO STAY FOR SURGERY IN TURKEY?
    The first day in Turkey will take you to check in at the hotel, and the next day we will take you to the clinic for abdominoplasty. The operation lasts 4-5 hours, after which you will be left in the hospital under the supervision of specialists for 3-4 days. In the absence of complications, patients are discharged, but for another 5 days it is recommended to observe bed rest. The stitches will be removed approximately on the 9th day.
  • HOW DO I UNDERSTAND THAT I NEED A TUMMY TUCK, AND NOT JUST LIPOSUCTION?
    Abdominoplasty is a plastic surgery aimed at removing excess skin and fat from the abdomen, possible stretch marks in this area, as well as restoring weakened muscles. The procedure is not to lose weight, but to remove excess skin and fat that may remain after rapid weight loss or repeated pregnancies. Therefore, if you see flabby skin or excess fat deposits when examining your body, you can safely sign up for a consultation with us.
  • IS LIPOSUCTION DONE WITH ABDOMINOPLASTY?
    Rarely, abdominoplasty is performed separately from liposuction. This is due to the fact that liposuction, which is a procedure of aspiration of fats from certain parts of the body, helps to form a silhouette, preventing an unnatural appearance of the abdomen after surgery. It is important that the doctor assess whether there is a need or whether liposuction is indicated in combination with abdominoplasty in each case.
  • WILL I HAVE MY ABDOMINAL MUSCLES STITCHED (DIASTASIS SUTURED)?
    With classical abdominoplasty, in addition to the main ones, another incision is made around the navel, since it cannot be removed. The abdominal muscles are exposed and stitched, bringing them closer, thinning the waist and eliminating abdominal diastasis. Then the removed skin is finally separated from the patient`s body, and what remains of the tissue is pulled down and reconnected with the incision, closing the wound. Stitching of the abdominal muscles is not required only for mini-abdominoplasty.
  • WHAT IS THE RECOVERY PROCESS AFTER ABDOMINOPLASTY?
    The postoperative period is considered by many to be the most difficult part of abdominoplasty, since recovery can be relatively long. On average, it takes a patient from 10 days to gradually return to normal activities. Highly qualified surgeons recommend avoiding large efforts and activities that require excessive stress and exertion for four months after surgery. During the rehabilitation period, the patient must strictly follow the doctor`s prescriptions, including treating scars.
  • IN HOW MANY DAYS WILL I RETURN TO A NORMAL LIFESTYLE?
    After abdominoplasty, the patient needs at least 10 days of complete rest. In some cases, doctors prescribe complete rest for at least 15 days. After this time, the patient can return to work, but full recovery takes from 2 to 4 months. With individual physiological characteristics of the patient, the recovery process may take longer. Rehabilitation is also longer if other operations, such as liposuction and mammoplasty, were performed shortly before or together with abdominoplasty.
  • WILL I HAVE A BIG SCAR?
    During abdominoplasty, scarring cannot be avoided. It is usually not very large and is located at the base of the abdomen, just above the groin area. But it is easy to hide it under underwear and even under a bikini, especially with mini-abdominoplasty and classical surgery. In addition, over time, the scar becomes less bright. The size of the scar depends on the amount of skin removed during the operation, but experienced surgeons always try to minimize the traces of abdominoplasty.
  • IS IT POSSIBLE TO GET RID OF THE SCAR AFTER ABDOMINOPLASTY?
    So that the scar does not become more noticeable than it should, or a keloid does not form, which is an excessive growth of tissue, it is important that the patient has a good rest and does not make any effort to the abdominal area during recovery. After the operation, the doctor will give recommendations for rehabilitation, as well as prescribe special creams or ointments that will help make the scar as invisible as possible. Modern cosmetics help not to completely get rid of scars, but to make them barely noticeable.
  • WHAT ARE THE COMPLICATIONS AFTER ABDOMINOPLASTY?
    The patient has a list of recommendations from the attending physician. Most of the possible complications are associated with non-compliance with medical advice during rehabilitation and ignoring visible signs of deterioration of health. Risks that are likely to be encountered: • Purulent inflammation. It is observed when hygiene and antiseptics are not observed during dressing; • Violation of the integrity of the stitch. It is possible with the assumption of physical exertion in the postoperative phase; • Edema. It happens after any operation, but if the swelling does not subside for a long period, it is important to consult a doctor immediately; • Lymphorrhea (fluid accumulates in the subcutaneous tissue in the area of the scar and a focus of inflammation forms when the capillaries rupture; this occurs when ignoring the need to wear compression underwear). In the Plastic Surgery Turkey Group clinic, where competent plastic surgeons with extensive practice and many years of experience work, the risk of complications after abdominoplasty is almost zero. Clear and consistent compliance with the recommendations allows you to avoid negative consequences and even shorten the rehabilitation period.
